“Considerable funk and tropical fruits characterize the nose with mashed sweet banana and salted caramel. In the mouth the high toned and tart fruit remains tropical with a fermented yeastiness. Interesting and complex.” Barrell Rum Batch 001 was the only rum that scored 96 points, the second highest score. Only Appleton Estates 21 Year Old Jamaican Rum received a higher score.

Each spirit at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge is reviewed under ideal tasting conditions over a period of time that allows the product to express its best characteristics, then evaluated blind by panels in multi-stages assessments to remove any inherent or individual bias. These awards follow our success with Barrell Bourbon Batches 006 and 007 at last year's competition.
